As of June 1st, 2021, the MedLaw Consult Foundation (MLCF) and Foundation Lygature have entered into a collaboration agreement to combine their expertise to facilitate medical research. The collaboration allows both organisations to build upon their complementary strengths. This is beneficial especially for large (European) research consortia where sharing of data is crucial to develop innovative solutions for patients.

The MLCF focuses on health care law and the ethics, governance and legislation concerning personal data and human tissue. Lygature acts as partnership management partner in a large range of national, European and global projects and initiatives. In the growing complexity of these research consortia, a clear framework for both the sharing of data and tissues, as well as the ethical aspects is an essential ingredient. By combining the in-depth knowledge of the MLCF with the broad Lygature network, both organisations can further contribute to the success of these partnerships, building upon their long track records in their respective fields.

If you like to know more on this collaboration, or discuss how the MLCF and Lygature can facilitate your research consortium, please contact either Evert-Ben van Veen at the MLCF (https://mlcf.eu/contact/) or Jan-Willem Boiten / Jorg Janssen at Lygature (https://www.lygature.org/contact).

About the MLCF

The MLC Foundation is specialised in health care law, European law and the ethics, governance and legislation concerning personal data and human tissue used in health care research and public health care. It focuses on doing research and advising health researchers, health care institutions and biotech start-ups on how to interpret legislation that deals with the use of tissue and data in health research and health care. As such, the MLCF contributes to pan-European research initiatives, often as lead for the ethical and legal Work Package such as IDEA-FAST and the HEAP exposome project. MLCF, as well as Lygature, are partners in the IMI Trials@Home project.
